Please note that the summer day parade 2020 will not take place.
The the traditional and popular Heidelberger Sommertagszug (Heidelberg summer day parade) takes place on the fourth Sunday after Mardi Gras.
The parade begins at 3 p.m. in the St. Anna Gasse and then passes through the Old City as far as Marktplatz. The colorful procession is led by Liselotte von der Pfalz. Drummers, musicians and attractively costumed marchers offer plenty of interest for the eyes and ears, while special pretzels are a welcome pick-me-up for younger participants and bystanders. Children march through the Old City sporting special rods that are adorned with a pretzel, an empty eggshell and brightly colored ribbons.
