Native Plants and Pollinators Discovery Walk — in English
Join an engaging 1.5‑hour guided walk through Heidelberg`s Bahnstadt area to discover the city’s vascular plants and the wildlife that depends on them. Aimed at nature lovers, international students, researchers, expats seeking a scientific yet accessible introduction to urban botany and its role in local biodiversity. The walk focusses on vascular plants and relates each species to their ecological importance for insects, birds and mammals. On the walk, participants will ID notable urban vascular plants and hear brief notes on their threat status and protection. We will observe pollinators and other insects and discuss plant–insect interactions, try a short sweep‑net demo for insects and submit observations to iNaturalist to learn how citizen science data supports local conservation.
