Kulturfenster e. V.

Short facts

  • Heidelberg

The Kulturfenster offers an extensive program of courses and workshops for children and families.

The Kulturfenster e.V. association was founded in 1983 and has a central place in the educational and socio-cultural landscape of Heidelberg. It all began with a district culture store in Weststadt and the cultural education projects of the Spielmobil, which travels throughout Heidelberg for about 100 days a year. The Spielmobil's biggest participatory event is the children's play city "Heidel York," which takes place during the first two weeks of the summer vacation and attracts about 450 children each time
.
In 1994, the Bergheim Youth and Culture House opened its doors in Kirchstraße under the sponsorship of the Kulturfenster. The program at the house includes a wide variety of offerings that appeal to many different interests and age groups.

For young people, there is a fantasy evening, an open music stage, U20 poetry slams & workshops, 2 theatre groups in the field of improv theatre, many weekend and vacation workshops such as parkour, graffiti, MTV studio, a cappella, rock climbing, greenwood and much more.

For children and families, the Kulturfenster offers an extensive program of courses and workshops such as climbing, instrument building, theatre, cooking studio, soapbox building, experimentation, etc. For families, there are also regular play afternoons on Sundays, and in the winter months, there are just as many theatre performances by stages from all over Germany.

"Inaktion" is the continuing education program for adults. It mainly includes workshops from the creative field: sculpture building, improv theatre, voice training, and much more.

On the cabaret stage of the Kulturfenster, there are about 2 to 6 events per month: Cabaret, chanson, theatre, world music, a cappella, and improv theater. Special events organized by the Kulturfenster include the annual four-day KinderTheaterFestival on the Neckarwiese, and what is now Germany's second-oldest chanson festival under the title "schöner lügen".
