Neckarmünzplatz (Neckarmünz Square)

Short facts

  • Heidelberg

Neckarmünzplatz is located on the banks of the Neckar in Heidelberg's old town.

Neckarmünzplatz is an important square in Heidelberg's Old Town, located directly on the southern bank of the Neckar River below the castle and home to a stop for tourist buses. For most visitors coming to Heidelberg by coach, Neckarmünzplatz is the starting point of their city tour and castle visit.

At the bus terminal, which is about fifty meters long, up to three coaches can have passengers boarding or alighting at the same time. The approach is usually from the west, the departure exclusively in the eastern direction.

Historically, the square had an important significance as a rafting site directly below the Heidelberg mills.
