The motorways A5/A6, with interconnected highways, serve much of the greater Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. Motorways A5/A6, direct motorway on-ramps and exits from/to Heidelberg via the A5/A656.
Heidelberg has an environmental zone, into which only vehicles which meet certain emissions standards are permitted to drive. Cars which are used in the Green Zone must be equipped with a sticker that indicates their emissions group. Since January 2013 only vehicles which display a green sticker are permitted in the environmental zones. Further information on the environmental zone is available at www.heidelberg.de

Environmental zone for cars and buses Since 2010, Heidelberg has had an environmental zone that only permits vehicles with certain exhaust standards. Vehicles that are used within the environmental zone must have stickers that mark the pollutant category. Vehicles with a green pollutant sticker may enter the environmental zone freely.

The center with its diverse shopping opportunities around the Bismarckplatz (Bismarck Square) includes the parking garages P0 to P7, P14, the underground car park P15 in the old hospital and the P16 right at the start of the Neuenheimer Neckarseite. For an old-town stroll or a visit to the Castle, it is best to park in the Old Town car parks P9, P11, P12 or P13.

The car parks from the area of the Kongresshaus Stadthalle (Convention Center) Heidelberg P6 and P8 are particularly recommended for attending events or for a shopping tour or old-town stroll, in particular if you arrive coming from the direction of the B 37.
You can park free of charge at the Messplatz in the Kirchheim quarter (Kirchheimer Weg). From there, bus line 33 will take you to the Kornmarkt station, stop "City hall/funicular railway", and tram line 26 to the Bismarckplatz. Please note: Events take place regularly at the Messplatz (flea markets, fairs, etc.). Parking is not possible or is only possible with certain restrictions during those times.
