Emmertsgrund

Emmertsgrund is located about 6 km from the city center at an altitude of 250 meters.

Thanks to its proximity to the forest in the east and the vineyards and fields in the west, it offers local recreation and a beautiful far-reaching view of the Rhine valley.
Emmertsgrund is home to 6,500 people from more than 100 different countries of origin.
In the northeast, the district is dominated by high-rise buildings, which were built in the early 1970s with the help of the federal government. The attempt to achieve targeted urbanity through densification, family-friendly and affordable housing was the central driver in this district.
In 2015, Heidelberg was honored for its successful citizen dialog in the Emmertsgrund district in the state competition "Stadt Bürger Dialog" (City-Citizen Dialog)
