From 2026, two unique rooms will be available for wedding ceremonies at Heidelberg Castle for the first time.
The Brunnenstube is located in one of the oldest parts of the castle, built in the 16th century and today home to the castle’s restaurant, where guests are treated like royalty. Its medieval character immediately captivates visitors. Simple sandstone slabs, oak-framed windows with leaded glass, and a coffered oak ceiling perfectly complete the impression of a noble castle setting.
The romantic atmosphere is further enhanced by the beautiful view of the Heidelberg Castle Courtyard and the facades of the palaces built in various architectural styles, which together make Heidelberg Castle one of the most iconic landmarks in Germany.
From 2026, civil wedding ceremonies can also take place in the Gläserner Saalbau at Heidelberg Castle. This light-filled space, with its elegant glass architecture, combines a historic setting with modern transparency and offers a unique view of the castle garden and the surrounding Old Town. Its stylish atmosphere makes the Gläserner Saalbau a truly special place for your romantic ceremony.

Wedding dates for the following year are usually published on our website in autumn.

The maximum number of guests for a civil wedding ceremony is 40 people.

After a binding reservation has been made, Heidelberg Marketing GmbH will issue an invoice for the deposit. After the ceremony, the couple will receive the final invoice, minus the deposit already paid. Additional fees apply at the registry office (Standesamt) and will be charged separately.

Yes. The Heidelberg Castle administration is responsible for the availability and booking of the castle chapel. Please note that only non-denominational ceremonies can take place there.

During a civil wedding ceremony, photos and recordings may be taken free of charge within the rented rooms as well as in the surrounding access areas (castle garden and castle courtyard) for private purposes. In addition, the castle administration allows the wedding couple to take photos on the Great Terrace (Großer Altan).
