Arrival by Car

The A5 and A6 motorways, with their exits and connecting federal roads, provide access to large parts of the entire Rhine-Neckar region. The A5 and A656 motorways offer direct exits to Heidelberg.

Arrival by Train

Heidelberg is excellently connected to the German and European rail network. The main train station is just a few minutes from the city center and is regularly served by ICE, IC/EC, and regional trains.

Neckarmünzplatz, where the Tourist Information office is located, is the ideal place for your guests to get on and off. From there, the Old Town can easily be explored on foot.

Arrival by Plane

International guests can easily reach Heidelberg via several airports. The nearest airports are Frankfurt am Main (approx. 80 km), Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (approx. 90 km), and Stuttgart (approx. 120 km).

Neckarmünzplatz, where the Tourist Information is located in the heart of the Old Town, serves as a drop-off and pick-up point for coaches. Please note that stopping is strictly prohibited except for passenger drop-off and pick-up for a maximum of 10 minutes. For parking, please use the coach parking areas listed above.

  • From International Frankfurt Airport, you can reach Heidelberg by train with a transfer in Mannheim or by shuttle bus – the journey takes about 60 minutes.

  • Yes – thanks to excellent rail connections, short distances, and a well-developed public transport network, visiting Heidelberg without a car is easy.
