Heidelberg Marketing GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Heidelberg. Its core mission is to promote Heidelberg nationally and internationally and position the city as a global brand in selected areas. Key sectors include tourism and congresses, as well as science, business, culture, events, and retail. Heidelberg Marketing also operates the Tourist Information offices and organizes all major city events such as the Christmas Market, Heidelberger Herbst, Heidelberger Weindorf, and the Castle Illuminations.
For the Event Management department, we are looking for a
Project Manager (m/f/d)
Full-time (40 hours per week), permanent position, starting as soon as possible.
Your responsibilities:
Assisting with the planning, organization, implementation, and follow-up of our in-house events and other annual or one-time events
Operational project coordination on site: site inspections, mapping of stand areas, coordination with service providers and authorities, and supervision during the event phase
Supporting logistics and event infrastructure, e.g. assisting with setup and dismantling (tents, huts, decorations) and on-site implementation
Managing your own operational areas, e.g. beverage stands
Contract management, cost calculations, and invoicing
Acquisition of new sponsoring and promotion partners
Major events mean dynamic working days: we work in all weather conditions, lend a hand where needed, and remain solution-oriented even when the day runs late. If you are looking for a strictly routine office job, this may not be the right place for you – but if you love the reality of events, you will feel right at home.
Your profile:
- Completed training in event management or a comparable qualification
- At least 2 years of professional experience in event management, ideally in organizing large-scale events
- Knowledge of event safety, event technology, and program planning
- Willingness to work outdoors and a strong hands-on mentality
- Very good Microsoft Office skills
- Independent, structured, and goal-oriented working style
- Team spirit, strong communication skills, and social competence
- Initiative, commitment, and a high degree of flexibility
- Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work evenings and weekends during events
- Excellent German language skills

For our Tourist Information department, we are looking for a
Tourist Information Assistant (m/f/d)
Working hours based on operational requirements – fixed-term contract for two years – starting as soon as possible.
The main focus of this position is advising national and international visitors at the Tourist Information counters.
Your responsibilities:
- Advising our national and international guests at the Tourist Information offices on sights, leisure activities, and cultural offers (in person, by phone, and in writing)
- Selling Heidelberg Marketing services such as hotel reservations, city tours, old town tours, and HeidelbergCARDs
- Selling books, maps, and souvenir items
- Selling tickets for Heidelberg Castle and the mountain railway
- Independent cash handling and register management
Your profile:
- Friendly, outgoing, and service-oriented personality
- Knowledge of common Office applications
- Good English skills; additional language skills are an advantage
- Ability to work under pressure and flexibility regarding working hours (shift schedules including full shifts on weekends and public holidays)
