How To Get Here & Parking
We look forward to seeing you
The Heidelberg Castle Illumination typically attracts very large crowds in the city centre. To relieve pressure on the Old Town and the banks of the Neckar, ensure safe pedestrian areas, and keep emergency and access routes clear, Heidelberg Marketing and the City of Heidelberg are implementing a new traffic management system.
Visitors are kindly asked to arrive early, avoid driving into the Old Town, and use public transport or designated Park & Ride facilities whenever possible.
Please also follow the on-site signage and instructions.

We ask for your understanding that, despite extended traffic planning, disruptions cannot be completely ruled out. Several construction sites and restrictions across the city already affect the capacity of the road network under normal traffic conditions. These include measures in the area of Dossenheimer Landstraße / Hans-Thoma-Platz, the Montpellier Bridge, and the renovation of Speyerer Straße.
The Speyerer Straße project is a state-level measure and is not under the direct control of the City of Heidelberg. In combination with other construction sites, it may lead to additional restrictions.
Visitors are strongly advised to avoid driving into the Old Town whenever possible. If arriving by car, please follow the large-scale traffic signage and do not rely solely on navigation systems if diversions or closures are indicated on site.
The City of Heidelberg, Heidelberg Marketing, the police, fire brigade, rnv, and all other involved parties closely coordinate these measures. The aim is to ensure a safe event operation, early traffic management, and as orderly an arrival and departure as possible.
