The places of the Heidelberg Christmas Market
Bismarckplatz:
As the entrance to the old town, Bismarckplatz with its pre-Christmas flair sets the mood for an unforgettable visit to the Christmas Market.
Anatomiegarten:
In front of the monument for chemist Robert Bunsen festively decorated huts invite for a visit.
Universitätsplatz:
You will find everything that makes you happy on the largest square of the Heidelberg Christmas Market. While the little ones have fun on the antique carousel, the parents treat themselves to a little break from the hustle and bustle with mulled wine and bratwurst.
Kornmarkt:
Illuminated fir trees and illuminated pointed tents create an atmospheric atmosphere.
Karlsplatz:
Framed by the romantic castle backdrop, one of the most beautiful ice rinks in Germany.
Marktplatz:
The highlight of the square is the Heidelberg barrel. A large wooden barrel with a capacity of 120,000 liters. This makes it about half the size of the original, namely the large barrel in Heidelberg Castle. Inside the barrel, there is a room above the sales booth with a wonderful view of the box overlooking the market.

Sustainable energy saving concept:
At the Heidelberg Christmas Market, the transition was made early on to replace conventional lighting technology with LED, etc.! Meanwhile, no stand uses conventional light sources anymore. The ice rink has been running exclusively on green electricity since 2017 and the other market locations are now supplied with this tariff. Since the lighting has been converted to energy-saving technology, it consumes 75 to 80 percent less electricity.
