Heidelberg Is UNESCO City of Literature

Hardly a day goes by without a literary event, no summer passes without the International Literature Festival Heidelberg feeLit, and no year without literary award winners. A look at the vibrant community of authors, translators, and theater makers reveals the city’s remarkable literary vitality. Heidelberg is also committed to strengthening literature in the future. Since December 1, 2014, the city has been an official member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a UNESCO City of Literature.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Diaries, 1797
