Founded in 1988.
Jai Gonzales, Bernhard Fauser, and Wal Mayans wanted to create a new language between dance, acrobatics, and drama when they founded their UnterwegsTheater ensemble in Heidelberg. They never did or do shy away from unusual challenges when finding new ways to seek a constant inter-disciplinary dialogue. In many years of dealing with dance, space, and staged events, UnterwegsTheater realized the importance of 'shifting perception', meaning everything that mobilizes the audience's imagination and opens new perspectives: from surprising images and unexpected interpretations of space to the rigor of temporary actions.
Since October 2010 UnterwegsTheater's lasting home has been the HebelHalle at Hebelstraße 9 in Heidelberg.
