Biennale for Contemporary Photography

February 29 - April 26, 2020

Under the title The Lives and Loves of Images, the Biennale for Contemporary Photography 2020 examines how photography became a symbol for the extremes of our society. David Campany, curator of the Biennale, dedicates his concept to the contradictory feelings that photography can trigger in us - from passionate affection to strong skepticism. Six exhibitions will be shown in six venues in Mannheim, Ludwigshafen and Heidelberg with contemporary and historical works by around 70 international artists and photographers. New format: In a series of talks with top-class participants in the run-up to and during the Biennale, renowned photo artists and scientists will discuss the relationship between photography and science.
