Life sciences, environmental management and information technology are the core competencies of the scientific and economic center Heidelberg. The University, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, DKFZ (German cancer research center) and the Heidelberg Max Planck Institutes are among the world’s leading research institutions in their respective fields of basic research.
