Hiking

Hiking Destinations

Snuggling against Heiligenberg on one side of the Neckar River and against Koenigstuhl mountain on the other, Heidelberg is an ideal starting-point for walking and hiking tours - including Nordic walking. One of the most famous routes is the walk along Philosophenweg located at the slope of Heiligenberg. Especially attractive is Philosophengaertchen, a pastoral park with exotic plants. Hiking paths of different length and difficulty on top of the Koenigstuhl mountain pass several sightseeing destinations. All of the 12 routes are marked in different colors and lead to bus or street car stops. A Heidelberg hiking map is available at the tourist information.

You can also download information about hiking around the Königstuhl (at the side of the Castle) - available on the website of the furnicular www.bergbahn-heidelberg.de in the section "Information Material" (The PDF is also in English language).
