Student Restaurants
A Taste of History
Dr. Karl Harald Kischka, Ph.D. of Philosophy and owner of the restaurant Zum Güldenen Schaf (Hauptstrasse 115, phone 20879), offers special historic theme nights for groups, including meals and music.
Traditional student pubs are Zum Seppl originally built in 1634 (Hauptstrasse 213, phone 23085) and Zum Roten Ochsen (Red Ox, built in 1703; Hauptstrasse 217, phone 20977), meeting-points for generations of student fraternities. Mark Twain, Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne: They all visited the Red Ox, as entries in the old guest books prove.
Old traditions of student fraternities you can find in the restaurant and hotel Hirschgasse where the famous writer Mark Twain once dined.
Goldener Hecht (Old Bridge, Steingasse 2, phone 26984) used to be a popular meeting place for romantic poets.
